Lewiston Woman Severely Injured After Camper Top Flies Through Windshield on Hwy. 14

Dover, MN (KROC-AM News)- A southeast Minnesota woman was severely injured in a crash that involved a camper mishap on Hwy. 14.

That’s according to the State Patrol which responded to the collision shortly after 6:30 Wednesday evening. 

Three people were involved in the traffic incident. 

Lewiston Woman Injured After Detached Camper Top Flew Through Their Windshield on Hwy. 14 Near Dover

The collision occurred at Hwy. 14’s intersection with 19th Ave. SE, which is about two miles east of Dover. 

The state crash report says a camper that was attached to the top of a vehicle being towed by an eastbound truck broke free and flew into a westbound lane. 

The camper top then flew into the windshield of a westbound SUV. 

SUV Occupants Taken to St. Mary's

21-year-old Kaydence Rita Plank of Lewiston was identified as the SUV driver and 42-year-old Carrie Lee Elliotplank of Lewiston was riding with her.

The State Patrol says Elliotplank suffered life-threatening injuries and was taken to St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester. 

Plank was also brought to St. Mary’s. She suffered non-life-threatening injuries, according to the State Patrol. 

Tow Truck Driver Unharmed

31-year-old Christopher Joseph Goetz was identified as the tow truck driver. He escaped the incident without injuries, the State Patrol says. 

Both drivers and the passenger were wearing their seatbelts and alcohol was not involved in the crash, according to the state crash report. 

Mayo One helicopter, St. Charles Ambulance, the Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office, Dover Fire and Eyota Fire also responded to the collision.
