Brownton, MN (MinnesotaNow)- A crash between a semi truck and car took the life of a Minnesota man over the weekend.

The State Patrol responded to the fatality shortly before 8:00 Sunday morning. The man driving the car was that vehicle’s only occupant. 

Two children and a woman were riding in the semi truck.

60-Year-Old Waconia Man Killed in Crash With Semi on Hwy. 212 West of Twin Cities Metro

Sunday morning’s fatality occurred at the intersection of Hwy. 212 and Tagus Ave., which is about 13 miles south of Hutchinson.

The car was heading west on Hwy. 212 and the semi was traveling east on the two-lane highway when the vehicles collided, according to the state crash report.

Halvorson Wade Kenneth was identified as the driver of the car. The State Patrol says the Waconia man was pronounced dead at the scene.

39-year-old Jerod Alan Jakel of Sacred Heart, MN was identified as the truck driver. 

The State Patrol says Jakel and two of his passengers, identified as 37-year-old Nicole Renae Jakel of Sacred Heart and 7-year-old Mccoy Alan Jakel of Sacred Heart. A third passenger, identified as 5-year-old Mckinlee Renae Jakel of Sacred Heart, was brought to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. 

It’s not known if Kenneth was buckled up or under the influence of alcohol. The state crash report indicates everyone in the semi was buckled up. 

The State Patrol did not indicate which vehicle entered the opposite traffic lane.

Correction: A previous version of this story said no one riding in the semi was injured.
