Mankato, MN (MinnesotaNow)- Authorities in southern Minnesota are investigating the death of an infant.

That’s according to a news release issued by the city of Mankato on Thursday morning. 

First responders were called to the report of an infant who was not breathing at a Mankato home shortly before 4:00 Wednesday afternoon.

Minnesota BCA, Mankato Public Safety Investigating Infant's Death

The call came from an apartment complex in the 500 block of James Ave. First responders immediately began CPR on the baby once they arrived. 

The infant was taken to the Mayo Clinic Hospital in Mankato. The child was later pronounced dead, the news release says. 

Authorities say the investigation is ongoing. The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is assisting with the case. 

No other information regarding the infant’s death is available.
