Items Stolen from Broken-into Vehicles at Rochester Dog Park
Sheriff’s Captain Tim Parkin said a deputy responded to a theft report at the dog park in the 6200 block of West River Rd. around 2:30 Saturday afternoon. Parkin said the caller reported someone had broken the window on the passenger side of their locked vehicle and took their purse.
While on scene, Parkin said another person approached the deputy and reported that someone had taken their wallet from their unlocked vehicle. He said both the purse and wallet were in plain view while inside the victims' vehicles.
Parkin said the reported thefts serve as a reminder that thieves will patrol parking lots looking to take items in plain sight as the weather warms. He advises residents to hide their valuables in their trunks or ensure they are not in plain view of potential thieves.
Parkin said Monday morning that no arrests have been made connected to the dog park thefts.
