Members of several different agencies responded and began searching for the man. A dive team then took to the icy water and recovered the man’s body shortly after 3 p.m.

His body was found in about 10 feet of water. The identity of the apparent drowning victim’s name is being withheld pending the results of an autopsy and notification of next of kin.

No further information has been released as of Friday morning.

The apparent drowning occurred on the same day as a DNR-issued warning about thin ice on lakes across the state.

While most of the lakes in southern and central Minnesota don’t have any ice, officials say most if not all of the ice-covered lakes in the state do not have a thick enough ice sheet to support permanent fish houses and recreational vehicles.
