Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - The first of what will be many disruptions to vehicle and pedestrian traffic in downtown Rochester due to Mayo Clinic's Bold. Forward. Unbound. project begins tomorrow(Thursday).

The City of Rochester says 4th Avenue Southwest will be closed from 1st Street to 2nd Street Southwest to accommodate underground utility work. A news release says vehicular traffic will be detoured onto Civic Center Drive to South Broadway and then to 2ndStreet Southwest.

4th Avenue Southwest will be narrowed to a single southbound lane from Center Street to 1st Street Southwest and then detoured to 3rd Avenue Southwest to allow vehicles to exit the Damon Parking Ramp and to travel to 3rd Avenue to access Gonda West and the entrance to the Damon Parking Ramp.

Pedestrians will be impacted with the sidewalks along the west side of 4th Avenue closed from Center Street to 2nd Street Southwest.

City officials say access to Calvary Episcopal Church will be available from 4th Avenue Southwest south of 1st Street Southwest.

The news release indicates the traffic impacts are expected to last into December.
