Minnesota Child Pornographer Gets 40 Years in Prison

Minneapolis, MN (KROC-AM News) - A Minnesota man who fled from the country after learning he was the target of a federal child pornography investigation has been sentenced to 40 years in prison.

31-year-old Ibrahim Ghassan Sleyman left the US in September 2022 and was captured about a year later in the United Arab Emirates, which agreed to extradite him back to the United States for prosecution.

According to the US Attorney for Minnesota, Sleyman used Snapchat and other messaging apps to solicit minor girls and boys, some as young as nine years old, to send him sexually explicit images and videos. The criminal complaint against him alleged that he enticed his victims by providing them with drugs and gifts.

Late last year, the Bloomington man entered a guilty plea to federal charges of attempted production and the production of child pornography, receipt of child pornography, and enticement of a minor. As part of his plea agreement, Sleyman confessed to victimizing 22 children.

The judge presiding over his sentencing indicated that Sleyman's case was "distinguishable" from the hundreds of child pornography cases he had dealt with to the severity of the offenses and hands-on sexual abuse.

In addition to his prison sentence, Sleyman will also be on supervised release for the rest of his life.
