Mower County Sheriff To Take Leave Amid Health, Conduct Concern
Austin, MN (KROC-AM News)- Mower County has retained legal counsel after being advised of a concern regarding Sheriff Steve Sandvick who announced he was temporarily stepping aside to address health issues.
A news release from Mower County Administrator Trish Harren says her office was advised on November 17 of a conduct concern involving Sandvick that happened on November 16. Harren's office released the following statement on Wednesday:
Sandvick shared the following message on his reelection Facebook page on Wednesday:
Harren’s statement says no criminal or civil charges against Sandvick are pending or expected. Sandvick says the Mower County Sheriff’s Office will continue providing uninterrupted services during his absence.
Harren says Sandvick will continue to be in communication with the sheriff’s office’s leadership, the Mower County Board and the Mower County Administrator’s Office. Sandvick was reelected to his second term as Mower County Sheriff on November 8.
