A news release issued by the Rochester Fire Department says crews responded to the fire shortly before 9:15 p.m. Responding firefighters found smoke and flames coming from the trailer’s back window.

The fire broke out in the 1700 block of 19th Ave. Southeast near McQuillan Park. Fire crews were informed that all of the home’s occupants had gotten out prior to their arrival.

The firefighters applied water to the structure’s exterior and entered through the home’s front door to extinguish the fire. A search of the home confirmed none else was inside at the time of the fire fight.

The news release says firefighters overhauled the home to ensure the fire had not extended. The home was also ventilated to clear any toxic gasses.

A Mayo Clinic Ambulance crew evaluated one of the occupants at the scene for minor burns and smoke inhalation. That individual did not require transportation from the scene for further care, officials say.

The cause of the fire has not been released. The home suffered what is described as moderate fire and smoke damage that was contained to the rear of the trailer.

A dollar damage estimate is not available as of Wednesday afternoon. The Rochester Police Department, Rochester Fire Department Chaplain and Rochester Public Utilities also responded to the blaze.
