Faribault, MN (KROC-AM News)- Two people were airlifted and were among four hurt following a five-vehicle-pileup near a construction zone on a southern Minnesota freeway.

A pick-up, Mustang, Honda SUV, Hyundai SUV and Chevy SUV were involved in the crash. The State Patrol responded to the scene of the collision shortly after 3:00 Sunday afternoon. 

The five-vehicle crash occurred on Interstate 35 in between Faribault and Owatonna in Rice County

All five of the vehicles were traveling north near the entrance to a construction zone when they collided, the state crash report says.

2 Airlifted, 4 Hurt in 5-Vehicle Pileup on I-35 Near Faribault Construction Zone

71-year-old Theodor Alexandre Hoheuber was driving the car and had 35-year-old Christina Deora Dittgen riding with him. 

The Brazilian nationals were flown by North Memorial Air to a hospital in Minneapolis for treatment of what are being described as non-life-threatening injuries.

19-year-old Kamilo Gonzales of Medford was driving the pick-up and 67-year-old Dana Earl Kain of Woodbury was identified as the Hyundai driver. 

Both women were taken to a hospital in Faribault with non-life-threatening injuries.

The Honda SUV was driven by 57-year-old Kimberly Lynn Sanness of Rochester. She escaped the crash without injuries. 

36-year-old Matthew Nolan Conway was identified as the fifth driver. The Stacy, MN man and his passenger, identified as 37-year-old Nicole Marie Conway of Stacy, also avoided injury in the crash. 

Alcohol was not involved in the collision and all six people were buckled up, the state report says. 

The Rice County Sheriff’s Office, Faribault Fire Department and North Memorial Ambulance also responded to the crash.
