Over 2300 Xcel Energy Customers Without Power in Cannon Falls
Xcel indicates the power went out shortly before 8:00 Sunday night.The utility provider’s outage map shows 2388 customers without power in the Cannon Falls area as of Monday morning.

That’s more than half of the southeast Minnesota town's population of approximately 4200 people.
Xcel Energy’s power outage map shows the highest number of outages located at the substation that lies north of the Lake Byllesby Dam.
There are over 1200 customers impacted by outages in that area.
Xcel Energy's Message to Customers, Estimate for Power Restoration
“Crews are working to restore power as quickly and safely as possible. Please continue to check back for estimated restoration time updates. Thank you for your patience,” a message on Xcel’s outage map says.
An Xcel Energy spokesperson says the outage was caused by "an equipment-related issue at a substation."
"We understand a loud noise like the one produced by Sunday’s equipment issue can be concerning for nearby residents but are usually not a threat to public safety. Xcel Energy takes safety seriously and our crews respond quickly to outage reports to ensure the area is safe and service is restored as needed," she wrote.

Xcel Energy says crews are estimated to have the power restored by 1 p.m. on Monday.
