Rochester Police Extinguish Kitchen Fire at Rochester Home

The fire broke out at a house in the 2300 block of Ponderosa Dr. SW. A Rochester police officer had deployed a fire extinguisher to put out the kitchen fire before firefighters arrived.

The family was outside of the home when the fire department got to the scene, officials say.

Firefighters conducted a check of the home’s interior and confirmed the fire had been extinguished. Crews ventilated the home and monitored air quality to ensure it was safe for the family to return, the fire department says.

A Mayo Clinic Ambulance crew evaluated then released the home’s residents. No injuries were reported. Crews also found the family’s dog and reunited the dog with its owners.

The cause of the kitchen fire was not disclosed in the news release. The Rochester Fire Department says the fire caused cupboard damage and was contained to its area of origin.
