Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - A Rochester man has been sentenced to six months in jail and 30 years on probation for his conviction on child sexual abuse charges.

20-year-old Mohamed Shei previously entered Alford pleas to two counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct. The Alford plea means he did not admit his guilt but he acknowledges there is enough evidence to support a conviction.

Shei was originally charged in juvenile court but he was certified to stand trial as an adult last November. He was accused of sexually assaulting two young children while he visited a friend's home.

One of the victims told investigators she was four or five years old when Shei began sexually assaulting her. The other victim told police investigators Shei began sexually assaulting her in May 2018 when she was eight years old. The girl estimated the sexual abuse occurred eight or more times over the span of about a year.

Shei was given credit for the four days he is spent in jail since his arrest. He will also be allowed to serve the sentence on work release and is eligible to be released from jail for treatment.
