Rochester Man Sentenced in Child Porn Case Triggered by Cyber Tip
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - A Rochester man has been sentenced for a recent child pornography conviction.
Court records show 30-year-old Darith Chan Hin was charged last July after Rochester police executed search warrants at three residences. The criminal complaint indicates Han became the target of an investigation after police received a cyber tip about suspected child sexual abuse materials that had been saved to a Verizon account linked to him.
The court document states that investigators found numerous videos on his cell phone depicting young girls approximately 8 to 10 years old engaging in sexual acts. According to the criminal complaint, Hin gave a statement to investigators and suggested that any child sexual abuse materials on his phone would've been an accident. He explained that he "would be in group chats and get links to download videos," which he would view and then delete.
Hin previously entered a guilty plea to a single count of possession of child pornography.
He was sentenced this week to 10 years on probation. The sentencing orders also requires him to register as a predatory offender.
