Repeat Rochester Offender Gets Jail For Felony DWI Conviction
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - A Rochester man with a history of impaired driving has been ordered to spend a total of four months in jail for his latest conviction.
According to Olmsted County court records, 43-year-old Jesse Wayne Schoenwetter was arrested following a traffic stop in downtown Rochester last December. The arresting officer reported witnessing multiple traffic violations while Schoenwetter was driving on 3rd Avenue Southwest.

The criminal complaint also says the officer recognized that the vehicle was registered to Schoenwetter, who had lost his driver’s license after a judge ruled him “inimical to public safety.”
The court document says the officer detected the odor of smoked fentanyl while approaching the vehicle and found Schoenwetter in possession of a glass pipe. It also noted that other drug paraphernalia was found inside the vehicle.
Schoenwetter was charged with a felony count of first-degree DWI, and during his arraignment, his bail was set at $100,000. Court records indicate the Rochester man’s criminal history includes five previous impaired driving incidents between July 2023 and April of last year.

Schoenwetter was also ordered to spend five years on probation and was given a three-year stayed prison sentence that could be imposed if he fails to meet the terms of his probation. His sentence also includes a $1,000 fine.
