Rochester Vigil to Remember Charlie Kirk
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - In the wake of the assassination of conservative political speaker Charlie Kirk, a vigil is being planned for later this week in Rochester.
A news release from the organizer of the event, Bradley Trahan, says the vigil for peace and remembrance honoring Charlie Kirk will take place Thursday evening at Soldiers Field Veterans Memorial. The statement says the vigil will offer an opportunity to "gather to honor Charlie Kirk, to reflect on peace, and to commit ourselves to ending violence through dialogue, compassion, and love."

The program for the service includes prayers, music, and a moment of silence. The vigil is scheduled to begin at 6 PM.
Kirk, who was 31 years old, was shot and killed last Wednesday as he spoke to several thousand people gathered on the campus of Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah. Authorities say the gunshot from a high-powered rifle came from a rooftop looking down at the location where Kirk was speaking.
Suspect Arrested, Faces Capital Murder Charge
The apparent act of political violence led to a massive manhunt and the eventual arrest of the suspect, identified as 22-year-old Tyler Robinson, on Friday night. The governor of Utah has said he expects Robinson to be charged with capital murder.
