
Man Charged in Rochester Fatal Overdose Case Accused of Selling Fentanyl to Police Informant
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News)- A Rochester man out on bail after being charged in a drug overdose death is accused of selling fentanyl to a Rochester police informant.

That’s according to a criminal complaint filed in Olmsted County Court on Friday. He was arrested during a traffic stop of a vehicle he was riding in on Thursday.
The woman driving that vehicle was also charged Friday after Rochester police made a significant fentanyl discovery, according to court documents.

47-year-old Sean Alexander was charged with third-degree murder in October of 2022 for a drug overdose death.

He was accused of selling the female victim a mixture of fentanyl and methamphetamine in June of 2021. Court records show he was released without bail after making his first court appearance in the fatal overdose case in January of 2023.
The new complaint against Alexander, filed in Olmsted County Court on Friday, alleges he sold a Rochester police informant a combined total of 12.1 grams of fentanyl during two controlled buys conducted in September and October of this year.

During Alexander’s arrest, police detected the fresh odor of burnt marijuana. The driver of the vehicle, identified as 31-year-old Vannida Vonna Dee of Rochester, admitted to having unsealed marijuana in the vehicle, according to a separate criminal complaint.
Officers then searched the vehicle and located 106.3 grams of fentanyl powder in brick form, the charges say.
Police also found 7.6 grams of marijuana, three cell phones, $989 in cash, and an electronic scale during the search, the complaint against Dee says.
Alexander is charged with one count of first-degree drug sales. His bail has been set at $500,000 in both drug cases.
He’s due back in court in the murder case in February and his next appearance in the fentanyl sales case is set for next month.
Dee is charged with one count each of first-degree drug sales and first-degree drug possession. She’s being held on $100,000 conditional bail due back in court next month.
