
Winona Crash Victim Struck by Two Vehicles on Hwy 61
Winona, MN (KROC-AM News) - The State Patrol is reporting that a single-vehicle crash preceded a fatal vehicle-pedestrian collision that closed down a portion of Highway 61 south of Winona early this morning.
The preliminary crash report indicates the incident occurred around 4:40 a.m., approximately 7 miles south of Winona near the town of Lamoille, which is across the Mississippi River from Trempealeau, Wisconsin. The State Patrol says the victim was driving east on Winona County Road 7 when her vehicle crossed Highway 61 and crashed into the ditch on the east side of the highway.
According to the State Patrol, 72-year-old Lois Irene Davis then exited her vehicle and was walking across Highway 61 when she was struck by a vehicle in the southbound lane. After that vehicle stopped, the Winona woman was struck by another vehicle.
Davis was pronounced dead at the scene.

The State Patrol report identifies 44-year-old Chad Erlandson of Winona as the driver of one of the vehicles that struck Davis. It does not list any information about the other driver. The report does state that alcohol was not involved.
The deadly incident closed down traffic on Highway 61 in the area for several hours.
