The National Weather Service tallied over an inch of snow in downtown Rochester overnight. Forecasters are predicting 2 inches of additional snow accumulation throughout the day.

MnDOT said Thursday morning the major roadways in and around Rochester are either partially or completely covered with the overnight snowfall. Officials are reminding motorists to be aware and to give space to southeast Minnesota’s fleet of 102 plows, which are out clearing the roads.

Emergency responders have already responded to numerous vehicle crashes and spinouts. State troopers were on the scene of a crash on I-90 between Stewartville and Dexter, multiple spin outs in Rochester and a jack-knifed semi-truck in Kellogg.
