How The Highway 52 And I-90 Interchange Is Changing For Drivers

Rochester, MN (RochesterNow)- The Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) is reporting more progress on the $27.5 million project to transform the Hwy. 52 and Interstate 90 interchange.

The project is in its third and final year. On Monday crews completed the pour of the new bridge decking of the I-90 westbound overpass at the interchange southeast of Rochester.

Off-Ramp from Westbound I-90 to Northbound Hwy. 52 Reopens Southeast of Rochester

MnDOT announced Tuesday afternoon that the off-ramp from westbound I-90 to northbound Hwy. 52 has reopened.

Crews shut down the ramp last month to accommodate work to realign it and install new box culverts underneath it.

Other Closures Still in Place

Other closures remain in place at the interchange. Motorists seeking to access southbound Hwy. 52 from westbound I-90 are advised to exit the interstate at the Hwy. 42/Olmsted County Rd. 7 interchange near Eyota.

Northbound Hwy. 52 drivers seeking eastbound I-90 are directed to continue north to the Marion Rd. interchange then enter Hwy. 52 south.

Drivers looking to enter southbound Hwy. 52 from eastbound I-90 are being directed to the Eyota interchange.

MnDOT says each of the ramps at the interchange have been realigned or reconstructed. Crews also have completed culvert work to improve the hydraulic system that serves the interchange.
