Iowa Child Saves Mom’s Life By Giving Bus Driver Note: ‘Call 911′
One kid's smart thinking is credited with saving their mom's life.
Fear can make us forget about the logical thing to do in a situation but that wasn't the case for one kid in Westgate.
According to the Fayette County Sheriff's Office, just before 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday, September 24th, a kid handed their bus driver a note that read 'Call 911'. The driver did just that and authorities responded to the house in Westgate.
A Hostage Situation
When police got there, they found that the kid's mom was being allegedly held against her will by 29-year-old Glenroy Miller of the Bahamas.
Miller allegedly assaulted the kid's mom several times during the night before, kicking her hard enough to break 2 of her ribs and puncture her lungs. At one point, Miller started to take her to the hospital but turned around, realizing he would be arrested and put in jail if he did. He also threatened to kill her by holding a knife to her neck and wrist.
Since the mom couldn't call for help in front of Miller as he took her phone, she gave her kid a note to relay for help and the first-grader gave it to their bus driver.
Miller was arrested that morning and is being detained by ICE, as well as being charged with armed kidnapping, willful injury, domestic abuse assault with the intent to inflict serious injuries, and obstruction of emergency communications. He's currently being held on a $1,500 bond and is awaiting trial in Fayette County.
