Mankato, MN (KROC-AM News)- A southern Minnesota Kwik Trip employee lost his life in a stabbing at his place of employment.

Authorities say the suspect is in custody. The deadly incident happened shortly after 3:00 Tuesday morning. 

So far limited information is available. The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) was called to the scene.

Employee Dies in Stabbing at Mankato, MN Kwik Trip, Suspect Taken into Custody

A news release issued by the City of Mankato says Mankato Police responded to reports of a disturbance at a Kwik Trip located at 1549 Madison Avenue.

Responding officers found an employee of the store lying on the floor unresponsive upon their arrival. The employee had a visible knife wound, the news release indicates. 

He was taken to the Mayo Clinic Hospital in Mankato where he was pronounced dead. Investigators reviewed the store’s surveillance footage and identified the suspect

Officers then went to the suspect’s residence and took him into custody without incident shortly after the fatal stabbing, the news release says. Police are describing the suspect as a 28-year-old man. 

The names of the victim and suspect have not been released. Officials plan to identify the victim and suspect and disclose charging information at a later time. 

Mankato police and the BCA are investigating the deadly stabbing.
