Local officials say they have notified the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board of the fatal crash.
Cambridge, MN (MinnesotaNews)- Federal authorities are investigating a fatal plane crash that occurred near a small Minnesota airport.

The first report of the aviation accident came in shortly before 11:30 Thursday morning. First responders immediately found the crashed aircraft upon arriving at the scene.

Pilot Killed in Plane Crash Near Cambridge Airport, Investigation Underway
The Cambridge Fire Department says the aircraft crashed near the Cambridge Municipal Airport, which is about 50 miles north of Minneapolis.
A news release indicates the pilot was the only occupant of the plane. First responders pronounced the pilot dead at the scene.
The identity of the pilot, along with the cause and manner of his death, will be released in the coming days by the Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office, the news release says.

Local officials say they have notified the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board of the fatal crash.
