ALERT: Millions of Stanley Cups Recalled in Minnesota Over Burn Risk
You can't go anywhere today without seeing someone holding a Stanley Cup. And if you were at a Target store on a day new colors and themes were released, you may have witnessed the flood of people trying to get one of the limited items.
According to CNBC.com, Stanley's revenue went from $73 million in 2019 to an astonishing $750 million in 2023. Every time a new color was released, the money poured in.
Unfortunately, a recall has been issued by Stanley and is one that you need to be aware of due to the possibility of burns.
Stanley Issues Recall in Minnesota, Iowa, and Wisconsin Due To Potential Burn Hazard
Based on data from the Consumer Product Safety Commission, Stanley has issued a recall throughout the United States due to a potential burn hazard. So far, there have been 91 different reports of a product failure and unfortunately, 38 of those reports led to burn injuries. Two of those burn injuries happened in the United States. Sadly, 11 people throughout the world have needed medical care due to the product failure.
Here's what we know based on the report from the CPSC.gov website:
- Item Recalled: Switchback and Trigger Action travel mugs
- Reason for Recall: The threads on the lids can shrink due to heat and torque. When that exposure happens, the lid can detach while in use which can lead to a possible burn hazard.
- Cost of the Item: Product was sold at a price point between $20 and $50, depending on model.
- Places Product Was Sold: Amazon, Walmart, Dick's Sporting Goods, Target, and other locations in person and online.
