Summer is flying by, but there’s still a ton of fun to be had! These small-town festivals will load up the rest of your summer calendar and take you right into fall.

Here are 10 unique Minnesota traditions to add to your bucket list:

1. Raspberry Festival in Hopkins

  • When: July 15–19th, 2026

  • The Vibe: Hopkins goes absolutely all out for raspberries. It’s got the whole classic summer setup - carnival rides, a massive parade, and everything raspberry-flavored imaginable.

2. Wilder Pageant in Walnut Grove

  • When: July 17–18th & August 24–25th, 2026

  • The Vibe: Calling all Little House on the Prairie fans! Watch Laura Ingalls Wilder’s childhood stories come to life during a stunning outdoor theater performance under the stars.

3. Blueberry/Art Festival in Ely

  • When: July 24–26th, 2026

  • The Vibe: The ultimate excuse for a northern getaway. Enjoy local art, live music, and fresh blueberry goodies surrounded by Ely's gorgeous wilderness and peak summer views.

4. Kolacky Days in Montgomery

  • When: July 24–26th, 2026

  • The Vibe: Welcome to the Kolacky Capital of the World! Celebrate Czech heritage with authentic food, live music, a grand parade, a pastry-eating contest, just to name a few. They have the whole weekend jam-packed with events! They even have a puzzle contest - sign me up! 

5. Buffalo Bill Days in Lanesboro

  • When: July 30th – August 2nd, 2026

  • The Vibe: Lanesboro is already a gem, but this weekend ups the ante with live music, marketplace vendors, and family activities right along the scenic Root River.

6. Gold Rush Days in Oronoco

  • When: August 14–16th, 2026

  • The Vibe: A massive antique and flea market haven. Hundreds of vendors take over the town. Fair warning, you will leave with a vintage treasure you didn't know you needed.

7. Potato Days in Barnesville

  • When: August 22nd, 2026

  • The Vibe: Quirky, fun, and completely dedicated to the humble potato. Expect potato-themed games, contests, and plenty of laughs at this hyper-local, community-centered festival.

8. Defeat of Jesse James Days in Northfield

  • When: September 9–13th, 2026

  • The Vibe: The whole town basically turns into the Wild West to recreate the famous failed 1876 bank raid. Reenactments, complete with carnival rides and a huge parade.

9. James J. Hill Days in Wayzata

  • When: September 11–13th, 2026

  • The Vibe: Squeeze in one last lakeside adventure. Head to the shores of Lake Minnetonka for food trucks, live music, open-air vendors, and beautiful late-summer views.

10. Johnny Appleseed Festival in La Crescent

  • When: September 18–20th, 2026

  • The Vibe: For everyone who can’t wait for fall. Head down to the Mississippi River Valley for apple everything, local crafts, and prime leaf-peeping scenery. It’s the perfect way to transition into sweater weather.
