Jelly Roll Finds a Way to Bring His Wheelchair-Bound Mom to the Beach [Watch]

Jelly Roll will stop at nothing to make his loved ones' dreams come true.

The singer's mom, Donna DeFord, uses a wheelchair, which often means that she's limited in the activities she can partake in and the places she can go. But when she wanted to take a family trip to the beach, Jelly stopped at nothing to make it happen — even if that meant outfitting her with the proper set of wheels.

Jelly's wife Bunnie Xo showed fans the results on TikTok, posting a video of Mama DeFord cruising through the sand in a wheelchair with thick, beach-ready tires. In the clip, she scoots along the beach — then the camera pans over to Jelly as he watches his mom on her special trip.

"Memaw hadn't seen the beach in 30 years," Bunnie writes, "So J made sure she could."

In the past, being wheelchair-bound has kept Donna from attending events to celebrate her superstar son. Back in February, she missed Jelly's first Grammy Awards ceremony due to the logistics of getting on and off the carpet in the chair.

However, she was cheering him on from home.

"She's FaceTimed me 10 times today already," Jelly said on the red carpet before the show. "She's fired up."

Jelly often speaks glowingly of his mom on social media. He says she supported his passion for music over the years, and was always there for him during his years as a drug dealer and incarcerated criminal.

"Thousands of times she accepted collect calls from a son in jail," he said in a Facebook tribute in 2019.

"Promised my mother I was going to make it as [a] musician and I would one day take care of a lot of people and I would tour the country for a living, make music and make a difference in people's lives," Jelly added. "It took a while but we are starting to see that dream come true."
