Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - The fate of a Rochester man accused of a fatal shooting 2 1/2 years ago is now in the hands of a judge.

26-year-old Sao Yim earlier waived his right to a jury trial and agreed to have Olmsted County Judge Kathy Wallace decide whether he should be convicted of a second-degree murder charge and another felony charge for the illegal possession of ammunition. After hearing testimony and reviewing evidence last week and today, the judge has taken the case under advisement.

Yim is charged with shooting and killing 40-year-old Ahmed Muafaq Abdulhussein Al Naddf following a confrontation outside the victim's northwest Rochester apartment on March 12, 2018. Prosecutors allege Yim believed Al Naddf had bumped into his car, which was parked on the street that runs past the victim's residence.

Judge Wallace is expected to issue her verdict in several weeks.
