Kid-Friendly Staycation Ideas Around Rochester

It is officially Spring Break for kids all over our great state of Minnesota!  My family is planning a few day trips around the area and I thought I'd share these with you...just in case you are having a Spring Break Staycation too.

Lark Toys - this amazing shop is just a short drive from Rochester.  Bring some cash because this is one toy store you will definitely have kids begging for a toy.  Rides on the hand-carved carousel are fun for the whole family too...and it is so cool to see!  Lark Toys Website

Apache Hotel & Waterpark - Some of us don't have vacation days left but we can still have fun here in town with the kiddos.  This hotel has great rooms that the entire family will love but the bonus...it has a water park!  Grab a room, have fun...and you can still make it to work on time tomorrow.  Apache Hotel & Waterpark Website

Check Out The Animals! - The amazing state of Minnesota brings beauty and nature!  Check out the National Eagle Center this week in Wabasha to see eagles soar through the air and also at the exhibits inside.  The Minnesota Zoo and Como Zoo are up in the cities and have amazing exhibits with animals your kids can see up close too.  If you are looking for a really close zoo to Rochester, Oxbow Park and Zollman Zoo in Bryon is your destination.

Go For A Hike! - Rochester has so many amazing trails and parks that you can explore.  Check out some of those maps here.  One of our favorite places as a family is Quarry Hill Nature Center.  The trails are great and it is fun to hike up to where the fossils are and go on a hunt.  If you are up for a little drive, Whitewater State Park isn't too far away and is a great place to check out some trails too!
