Out of 10,000 Lakes, Only This One Made the Top 10 in the US
Time to soak up the sun on the water! If you don't spend some time on or near water during the summer in Minnesota, did you even summer correctly?
It doesn't matter if you're getting out there for some water skiing or fishing, or if you just want to relax on the beach with a book, soaking up our short summer; at least being in the vicinity of water is a requirement.

Good thing for us, we're the Land of 10,000 Lakes! Plenty of places to get that taken care of. One lake in particular is actually a prime location for swimming and water sports.

Have you heard of USA Today's 10 Best lists? I've talked about them a few times now. A panel of experts put together their starting list of the best of a certain category from across the country.
From there, we all vote for our favorites. In the end, we have the list of the 10 best in the US.

This time, I've got the best lakes for swimming in the country and the best lakes for water sports in the country. On each list, there's a Minnesota lake that made the cut! I know, only one, but it IS for the entire country, so.

The Minnesota lake didn't make the number one spot on either list, sadly. We're talking about Lake Superior, of course!
Lake Superior is pretty amazing, and I love it too, but can I play a bit of devil's advocate? Lake Superior is so cold all year (except maybe in August)! There are other lakes around that aren't nearly as cold and are still great spots to swim, water ski, etc.
I digress, Lake Superior is still a great choice. It came in as the 8th best state for swimming and the 10th best for water sports (yeah, barely made that one!).
