Just how much do 2nd graders really know about prom? Well, a teacher in Austin had the 2nd-grade class write letters to those going to prom, and they are pretty impressive.

A lot of the kids had the same message, have fun, but be smart and make good choices. They crack me up, saying stuff like "don't do anything dumb!" and "don't be grumpy or kiss your date."

How can you not love a handwritten letter from a child? This was actually the third year that the elementary students had a chance to write letters to each of the over 400 students heading to prom. The letters are distributed after the grand march by members of the Austin Positive Action Coalition. It's part of what they call the Positive Community Norms method. Their goal is to reduce illegal substance use.
