Minnesota Auditor, Senator Hurt In Crash With Semi-Truck
Redwood Falls, MN (KROC AM News) - The two people hurt in a traffic accident Wednesday in southwest Minnesota are well-known politicians.
One was Minnesota state Auditor Julie Blaha and the other was DFL State Senator Melissa Franzen.
The wreck happened around 5:00 pm at a rural intersection in Redwood County in the southwest part of the state.
The State Patrol says a vehicle driven by the 51-year-old Blaha collided with a semi-truck in the intersection. Blaha was driving on a road that has a stop sign at the intersection. She and the 41-year-old Franzen were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The truck was driven by 70-year-old Patrick Crain of Franklin, Minnesota, who was not hurt.
Blaha is serving her first term as auditor. Franzen is in her third term in the Senate and serves as assistant minority leader. Reports indicate the two had just left the nearby Farmfest event.
News update: Deadly crash apparently caused by passing motorist.
