Four Best, Lesser-Known Spots for a Romantic Getaway in Minnesota
Valentine's Day is the perfect excuse to plan a little romantic time together with your partner and in Minnesota we actually have some of the best, lesser-known spots for a romantic getaway in the entire country.
I'm not saying plan the trip and leave this weekend. I'm thinking you could make trip plans and then gift it to your significant other for Valentine's Day but take the trip at a later date.
The Best Lesser-Known Romantic Getaway Spots in the US
There's a total of 175 towns that are on the list and it's all based on a survey of 3,000 couples.
The survey was done by a travel expert company called Honeymoon Always. They wanted to "find out which lesser-known romantic destinations [couples] would most like to visit".

Before we get into the best spots in Minnesota, let's see which places around the US made the top of the list.
Coming in at number five is Carmel-by-the-Sea, CA. It's in west central California near Santa Cruz and is right on the Pacific Ocean.

Number four is Asheville, NC, located in the western part of North Carolina.
Number three goes to Hilo, HI, which is on the Big Island of Hawaii.
Number two is Paia, HI, which is on the island of Maui.
And the number one best, lesser-known romantic getaway in the US is St. Augustine, FL, just south of Jacksonville.
All of those look beautiful and you can't go wrong with any of them!
However, it costs a lot more money to travel out of the state (especially to Hawaii) so let's try to keep things closer to home with the Minnesota towns that made the list.
Minnesota Best, Lesser-Known Romantic Getaways
The same survey by Honeymoon Always also had four Minnesota spots on the list for the best, lesser-known romantic getaways.
As a Minnesotan, I was very familiar with all of them. Most are smaller towns so I understand that, to others, they're likely lesser-known.
There is one on the list that makes me laugh thinking someone thinks it's a lesser-known town. However, it's a great spot for a romantic getaway so I'm glad it's on the list.
Coming in at number four in Minnesota (and 156 on the full list) is Grand Marais.
Number three in Minnesota (and 148 overall) goes to Red Wing.
Number two in Minnesota (and 112 overall) is... Duluth, which makes me giggle that it's on a list of "lesser-known" towns. Duluth is a great spot for a romantic getaway, though, so I can't be mad that it's on the list.
And finally, the number one best, lesser-known romantic getaway in Minnesota (and number 56 overall) is Stillwater!
