St. Paul, MN (KROC-AM News) - The number of Minnesotans hospitalized due to COVID-19 has dropped below 500 for the first time in over three months.

The latest numbers from the state health department indicate 496 Minnesotans are currently hospitalized with the new viral infection. That is the lowest that number has been since October 17. 100 of those patients are being treated in intensive care.

The Minnesota Department of Health today reported another eight coronavirus related deaths throughout the state. 727 new COVID-19 cases were reported today with 22 of the new infections found in Olmsted County.

There was a significant drop in the number of COVID-19 tests completed on Monday. The total was just over 9800 and the daily testing positivity rate rose to about 7.2-percent.
