Do you think people got sick of naming towns and started making up words? I wonder about that with some of the town names that exist around the world. Here in Minnesota, we have plenty of odd town names, but we also have a few that can be difficult to spell.

One town name in particular is harder than others in my opinion. And I bet you've never heard of this town before.

As a born-and-raised Minnesotan I don't have as many troubles with that but boy, if I hadn't grown up here would I be confused about some of these too.

Surprisingly, the hardest one to spell isn't on that list! I think I should be though because I'm not sure I could pronounce this one at first glance.

The Hardest Town Name to Spell in Minnesota

No, it's not Wayzata, although that is a hard town name to spell. It's so well-known, at least in Minnesota, that I decided not to count it as THE most difficult.

The town I did pick also is on a list from 24/7 Wall St. that says it's the 8th hardest town name to pronounce in the country.

This is a small town in northwest Minnesota, west of Bemidji. I'll give you the phonetic version of the name. Think about it and see if you think you'd be able to spell the name of this town just by hearing it.

It's spelled Beaulieu. I didn't even know we had a town named Beaulieu! But it's a super small town of just 37 people, so I guess that's why I had never heard of it before.
