The COVID-19 pandemic has taken a toll on Americans' mental health, by limiting our social interactions, causing sickness, and job losses. The year has been very tough on many people, and the website Wallet Hub searched for the states where people can stay positive despite the circumstances.

Minnesota came in at number three on their list, behind Hawaii and Utah.

"To determine where Americans have the highest satisfaction with life, WalletHub compared the 50 states across 32 key indicators of happiness. The data set ranges from the depression rate and the positive COVID-19 testing rate to income growth and the unemployment rate."

Breaking down Minnesota's ranks in some of the key indicators, Minnesotans were 1st in adequete-sleep rate, 2nd in volunteer rate, and 3rd in safety. Here is a full breakdown of Minnesota's ranks in other key indicators from Wallet Hub:

Wallet Hub said they looked at several different environmental factors that are linked to a person's overall well-being and satisfaction.

"In this study, WalletHub drew upon the findings of “happiness” research to determine which environmental factors are linked to a person’s overall well-being and satisfaction with life. Previous studies have found that good economic, emotional, physical and social health are all key to a well-balanced and fulfilled life."
