Times have definitely changed.

If you’re anything like me, you spent a good chunk of your late teens and early 20s road-tripping to music festivals. Back then, there was always plenty of smoke in the air, but everybody kept it on the down-low, at least until you made it past security.

Fast forward to today: Cannabis is legal in Minnesota, and instead of hiding it, we’re throwing massive festivals dedicated to it.

Legacy Cup is Minnesota’s premier cannabis, music, and art festival and is scheduled for Saturday, September 26 at Surly Festival Field in Minneapolis.

The music lineup is stacked with hip-hop legends including Big Boi (from OutKast), Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, Nappy Roots, and Sa-Roc, but this event is more than a concert. The festival grounds are packed with stuff to do all day.

Legacy Cup Event Information

  • The Cup Awards: Watch live as Minnesota crowns the best cannabis in the state, spotlighting top local home growers alongside adult-use and hemp brands.
  • Ganja Games: High-stakes (and hilarious) spectator events, including joint-rolling contests, bong-hit challenges, and bong pong.
  • Pro Skate Demos: A custom street course built on-site with pro skaters throwing down all afternoon.
  • Live Glassblowing: Catch top glass artists from around the region torching up live to craft custom pieces on the spot.
  • Growers Garden: A chill hangout for home growers and curious beginners to swap tips and talk shop.
  • Art Bazaar & Car Show: Browse local creators, makers, and painters, plus a lineup of custom, tricked-out rides.

There's also a sampling tent on-site, but that requires a separate ticket or VIP pass.
