Minnesota just earned some major bragging rights in the education department. WalletHub released their 2026 list of the Most and Least Educated States, and The Land of 10,000 Lakes ranked in the top 10!

Minnesota Named One of the Most Educated States in the Country

You might think that this only has to do with college education, but that's only a small piece of the larger puzzle. The quality of education, any achievement gaps, and educational attainment are a few other key factors that were also taken into consideration.

Minnesota ranked pretty highly overall. With all of the rankings totalled up, Minnesota ended up with a 63.88 out of 100, putting us as the 9th most educated state in the US. Nice!

The Most Educated States in The US

Taking a closer look, Minnesota has the 3rd highest percentage of adults with some sort of college experience. We are also the 8th best when it comes to educational attainment.

Of course, Massachusetts would take the stop spot, they're home to Harvard and MIT. if they weren't number one, I'd have some serious questions.

As for the least educated states from the study, Nevada takes the 46th spot, then Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, and West Virginia, which ranked as the least educated.
