MN Town Named the Best for Romantic Weekend Getaway in the State

Valentine's Day is coming up so that might have you thinking about something romantic you could do to celebrate the day. If you're wanting to plan a romantic weekend, Thrillist has a list of the best places to go for a romantic weekend in every state. Minnesota's is in the northern part of the state past Duluth. Before we get to that, let's check out our neighboring state's most romantic places.

Wisconsin - Chetek

There are plenty of lakes around Chetek, Wisconsin so no wonder it's the most romantic place in the state. Anytime water is involved I always think of that place as being more romantic. Chetek is a little over an hour north of Eau Claire.

Iowa - Decorah

Not too far from us is Iowa's best town for a romantic getaway: Decorah. It's on the northeast side of the state and Thrillist recommends staying at The Hotel Winneshiek if you visit.

North Dakota - Medora

Medora, North Dakota is the best place for a romantic weekend getaway in ND. It's a small town right next to Theodore Roosevelt National Park so there's tons of hiking. This is a place I want to check out but it would be a really long drive, it's on the western side of the state.

South Dakota - Spearfish

Fun fact that Thrillist taught me, Spearfish Canyon (which is obviously in Spearfish, SD) is actually older than the Grand Canyon. This is another place for couples of love to hike would have a great time.

Minnesota - Lutsen

Finally, Minnesota's best town for a romantic weekend getaway is Lutsen, north of Duluth near Grand Marais. It's pretty obvious that one of the reasons Lutsen was selected is because of Lake Superior. Thrillist recommends staying at the Lutsen Resort if you visit. I'm excited because I actually have a trip planned to Lutsen this spring!
