Minneapolis (KROC AM News) -  A Maple Grove man who struck and killed a woman while driving a school bus has been sentenced to prison.

Sentenced Monday was 35-year-old Jason Rynders.

He pleaded guilty in November to criminal vehicular homicide and was sentenced Monday to 41 months in prison.

The deadly incident happened on March 16, 2020 in Brooklyn Park.

Court documents indicate Rynders struck the woman and then pulled over. Another motorist also struck the woman and stopped. Rynders was outside the bus and the motorist asked him to call 911. Instead, he got back into the bus and drove off.

There were several students on the bus at the time.

Investigators were eventually able to determine Rynders as the driver of the bus. The criminal complaint says Rynders “admitted to hearing a noise and exiting his bus but said he did not think he hit anyone.”
