Berne, MN (KROC-AM News) - The Dodge County Sheriff's Office has released the name of the motorcyclist who suffered severe burns as a result of a traffic crash Wednesday evening.

Sheriff Scott Rose says 43-year-old Benjamin Roemer of Kenyon was airlifted to the burn unit at Regions Hospital by Mayo One following the crash on Dodge County Road 24 near Berne. The Sheriff says the preliminary findings from the investigation into the crash indicate Roemer and another motorcyclist were traveling east on the county road and were attempting to pass an ATV when the collision occurred just before 6 PM.

When deputies arrived at the scene, Roemer's motorcycle was engulfed in flames and the motorcyclist was also on fire. The ATV driver, 74-year-old John Derby of rural West Concord, was transported to St. Marys Hospital to be treated for minor injuries. The other motorcyclist, 61-year-old John Hemple of Cannon Falls, was not injured.

Information about Roemer's current medical condition is not available.
