It helps that that's the app's name, too. "QualityTime" takes control when you've lost control of being able to stop checking your phone for everything.

It's become such a habit for some that it's become a part of daily or even hourly life; checking your phone for EVERYTHING. Facebook, email, internet trolling, (insert name here) Saga... it's all lead to the very thing that app got it's name from; Quality time away from our phones.

ZeroDesktop is the company putting out the app. They made a similar app in the past for kids' phone called "DinnerTime", allowing parents to control the amount of time their kids spend on a phone. This "adult" version lets them set custom usage alerts to help manage how long they spend on their device and/or particular apps. For the slightly more nerdy, it will also track the amount of usage of their phone all together, with the free version saving this data for two weeks.

New versions of the app that come out later this month will help those who REALLY need help staying off their phones. Since it can track the amount times you unlock your phone throughout the day, you can set it to automatically call your significant other so they can tear into your for your over-usage, or you can keep it a little more personal by setting the app to send "shame messages" to your calender.
