Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) – The Rochester Planning and Zoning Commission has approved the final plan for a new downtown hotel that will be located between the downtown Mayo Clinic campus and St Marys Hospital.

The six-floor hotel will be built at the northwest corner of the 2nd St/6th Ave SW intersection and operate under the Marriott TownePlace Suites brand.

It will consist of 110 rooms and two levels of underground parking to accommodate up to 88 vehicles.

The commission’s vote at its Wednesday meeting was unanimous and the recommendation is expected to be taken up by the City Council next month. If approved, work could begin as soon as several conditions are met.

The project is being developed by North Rock Real Estate of Rochester.
