Local Business Owner Announces Plans for New Restaurant, Nightclub, and Event Center in Medford

If you've driven past the old building next to the Medford Muni on Main Street in Medford, MN, and wondered if anything was ever going to happen with it, there's finally some exciting news with big plans just announced for the space.

Today, Jose Herrera, the owner of the popular Owatonna Mexican restaurant Plaza Morena, announced on Facebook that he's transforming the building at 217 N Main Street into what he's calling the Medford Event Center.

What We Know About the New Medford Event Center

In the video caption, Herrera says the remodeled space will be "a multifaceted venue featuring a restaurant, nightclub, and private event center." He also gives a tour of the building, which has been completely gutted, pointing out where the future kitchen, bar, music stage, and other features will be located once renovations are complete.

According to the Medford Event Center Facebook page, the business plans to operate Thursday through Sunday, serving breakfast in the mornings and offering restaurant dining and entertainment at night. The venue will also be available for private meetings, special events, and public gatherings.

A New Chapter for a Familiar Medford Building

The building has served several purposes over the years, including as the home of the Knights of Columbus, Celebrations Events and Catering, and most recently Elevation North Church.

It's clearly getting a much-needed facelift, and judging by the reaction in the comments of the video, people are excited to see this kind of investment happening in the community.

When Could the Medford Event Center Open?

The renovation is still in its early stages, so it may be a while before the doors officially open. We’ve reached out to Jose to see if he has any more information to share and are waiting to hear back. We'll keep an eye on the project and share updates as they become available.

Medford is located just east of I-35 between Faribault and Owatonna.
