It is summertime, which is an excuse for ice cream every day! But you don’t want just any old ice cream from the grocery store. The summertime is a chance for us to explore new places and try new things and there is one place you have to check out before the summer ends. The place is Dream Creamery, a new ice cream shop on 816 NE. Lowry Ave., in Minneapolis. But why this place? Well, here is why this is one place to "level up" your ice cream!

Co-owned by Nathan Mickelson, who is the shop’s pride and joy (besides the ice cream), has not only made this a place to try exquisite ice cream flavors, but they also serve burgers and lobster rolls.

When checking out Dream Creamery’s website, the feel of nostalgia is not only real within the food but the whole presence of the shop. Walking through the site like a ‘90s video game, you are able to check out their menu of ice cream and food, the shop, reviews by customers, delivery options, latest news, and even pictures they are tagged in on Instagram!

Now, what is so cool about the ice cream you ask? Well, each flavor fits the theme of nostalgia, especially for Mickelson. The most popular flavors include Monkey Bread Praline (a cream cheese-based ice cream with chunks of monkey bread, pecans, and some caramel), Grandma Jean's Oatmeal Cookie (based on Mickelson’s grandma’s actual recipe, which has a brown sugar cinnamon taste with cookie chunks), and Lemon Blubbery Butter cake (with actual chunks of lemon butter cake is based on an ex-girlfriend’s mother’s butter cake)!

Twin Cities Live recently had a segment on Dream Creamery which was where I got the inspiration to check them out. You can watch it below:

As for their food items, Racket has a wonderful review here. So, before the summer ends bring on the nostalgia and check out Dream Creamery! Their hours are Wednesday - Sunday 12 pm - 9 pm.
