Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) -  A milestone is expected to be reached this coming week in downtown Rochester.

A ceremonial “topping off” is scheduled Wednesday (11:00 AM) at the Hilton Downtown Rochester, the 20-story building under construction at the corner of South Broadway and East Center St.

The 264-room luxury hotel is being developed by Rochester-based Titan Development & Investments in partnership with Harbor Bay Real Estate Advisors of Chicago. The $145-million project was finalized in December 2016, two years after the City Council approved a final development plan for the site.  A new city parking ramp is being constructed as part of the project, which is expected to be completed in the spring of next year.

Here's a time lapse of the project.

This is one of the first projects of the DMC initiative.

“This topping off is a great milestone and highlights the significant progress being made in the DMC district,” noted Lisa Clarke, executive director of the DMC Economic Development Agency.  “We look forward to the opening of the Hilton hotel in 2019, which will be a wonderful addition to downtown Rochester and its skyline.”
