Olmsted County Evaluating Proposals For Former Seneca Foods Site
Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - An expected repurposing of the former Seneca Foods site in southeast Rochester may come into focus in the near future.
The Olmsted County Board purchased the 11-acre site along 3rd Ave. in 2019 for $5.6-million.
The county later demolished the canning plant and cleared the site for possible development.
Earlier this year the county hired Rochester Area Economic Development, Inc. (RAEDI) to seek development proposals for the site. RAEDI began accepting proposals in March. County Administrator Heidi Welsch at the time said RAEDI would seek any possible re-use of the site, including housing.
The deadline to submit a proposal was June 1st. A county spokeswoman says four proposals were submitted and they are now being evaluated.
She says no other information is being made public at this time.
