The deputy was recording when he found the animal and got it the help it needed. Since then, people around the country have fallen in love with the deputy and the animal he rescued.
Minnesota Animal Rescue Gets Nationwide Attention
This happened in Olmsted County where one of the deputies was on patrol. He was cruising around when he noticed a small animal of some kind.
When he pulls over and gets out of his patrol car he realizes it's a baby skunk!
In the video, which I found on 48 Hours' Facebook, you can see the adorable little skunk crawling over to the deputy as if asking for help.
The video then cuts to the deputy with the skunk in his gloved hand. He mentions that the little guy seems thirsty and he wonders if he can bring him to the local humane society, Paws and Claws.
He decides to bring the skunk to Paws and Claws for help where they decide they'll take the skunk to Roseville for help. But in the meantime, they allowed the deputy to hold and feed the baby skunk. It's so adorable!
People around the country have seen the video now and are praising the deputy saying "Kudos to this man for his compassion." and "Sir, you are officially a Disney princess! Thank you for saving the baby."
Others were also loving the fact that even a tough-looking guy with lots of tattoos totally melts for a baby animal. A comment from Monica on 48 Hours' post says "I love when baby animals do this to grown men. They just soften up and become mush. Voice gets all high pitched like they're talking to their babies."
