Is Omni Brewing Expanding into Rochester?

There's a brewery in the Twin Cities that people love, including my mom. It's called Omni Brewing and they've got three locations: one in Maple Grove, one in Victoria, and one in Rosemount.

Omni Brewing's Expansion Announcement

Yesterday, Omni shared on social media the exciting news that they have big plans to expand into Duluth, Rochester, and Hudson, WI.

Like I said, people love this brewery. I've been to the Rosemount one a few times and the Maple Grove one once and it's ALWAYS busy. While I was shocked that they planned to expand that much, it made a bit of sense to me because they're so popular.

I did not, however, pay attention to the date...

In the announcement, they said they plan to open their Duluth location by March 2027, Hudson location by June or July 2027, and the location here in Rochester by November 2027.

My first thought was, uh oh, what are our local breweries going to think about this? While I have always enjoyed going to Omni in the cities, I'm not going to leave my local breweries high and dry.

But again, the date...

April Fools!

Omni shared this announcement on April 1st... April Fools Day. And boy, was I, my husband, my mom, and a ton of other people made a fool of, because this was all just an elaborate April Fools joke!

They updated their 'announcement' today letting everyone know that it was, in fact, an April Fools joke, which some people had picked up on in the comments.

They wrote,

As much as we would love to continue to expand, our focus will remain on our three current taprooms. Given the excitement though, it looks like we know where we should look to next.
