St. Paul, MN (KROC AM News) – The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, State Patrol, country sheriff’s offices and other public safety agencies will have increased patrols for intoxicated boats from July 5 - 7th as part of Operation Dry Water, a campaign aimed at deterring boating under the influence of drugs and alcohol.

Officials will discuss current statewide efforts to crack down on boat while intoxicated (BWI) at Wolf Marine in Stillwater. The goal of Operation Dry Water is to reduce the number of BWI-related boating accidents and fatalities. Last year, alcohol was a factor in half of the deadly boating accidents in Minnesota, which is higher than the five-year average.

DNR conservation officers and law enforcement officers from other participating agencies will stand with Lt. Adam Block as he delivers his remarks on Operation Dry Water tomorrow at 10 a.m.
