Prison Sentence For ‘Desperate’ Rochester Robber
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - A man described by police as “desperate” while he was being sought for an armed robbery in Rochester is now headed to prison.
21-year-old Jeremy Garcia went before an Olmsted County Judge on Thursday and entered a guilty plea to a 1st-degree aggravated robbery charge. In exchange, a related weapons charge was dropped and Garcia was sentenced to 9-years in prison.
His conviction stems from a hold-up at the Shell-Apollo Convenience Store along 4th Street Southeast on July 1st. Rochester Police say he displayed a handgun, and after demanding cash from the store clerk, he fled with about $1,000 dollars.
At the time, Garcia was wanted on a warrant issued by Mower County for failure to meet the terms of his probation for a robbery conviction last November. His criminal history also includes an arrest in Texas for a similar robbery in 2016.
